Ben's London Adventure - Pt. 4

Vauxhall bus station by night...

Who'd have thought I'd have found a building such as this so very interesting! It looks fantastic in the dark as well.

New Yoik...

Yep, I've cracked out the New York photos again, and coupled with my car sketch from the other day, I have made another image that I'm really happy with!

I have a sneaking suspicion that a version of this could well find itself on a T-shirt some time soon...

Ben's London Adventure - Pt. 3

It was a mild night last Thursday and since (as usual) I had my camera with me, I thought I'd take a different route home. So, I ducked under Blackfriars Bridge, and down along the Embankment towards Waterloo Bridge. Here's a few photos of what I saw on the way...

I also managed to add another couple of Banky's to me collection. Although, it does turn out, upon closer inspection of one of the photos, that I totally missed a third! ...They don't call me Ben 'Sherlock Holmes' Grubb for nothing, you know.

C'mon, Jump in my car...

During my experimenting at work, I produced a sketch of the Chevvie we saw in Toronto. I then coloured it up in Photoshop, and I'm really happy with the result! I've also included a step-by-step image of how I went about colouring it (more for my own piece of mind than anything - I always find myself thinking "How the hell did I do that again?!"). Anyway, I hope you like it!

All aboard...

Here's a sketch of Vauxhall Bus Station I've been working on. I'm really pleased with the line work, and I think that the colouring works well with it. I'm definitely making headway - or at least I think I am. I'll find out on Wednesday I guess...

Ben's London Adventure - Pt. 2

Here's some night shots that I took over Blackfriars bridge on the way home from work on Friday. I took a lot more than this, but it was freezing cold, wet and seemingly blowing a gale off the Thames, so many of them didn't come out very well. I'm pleased with these few though.

2007 - The Year Of The (Sent Away) Tiger...

Manic Street Preachers announced their 2007 tour this week! Tickets went on sale today (Friday) and, as always caused me to stress out beyond belief! Anyway, Snoo and I managed to get all the tickets we wanted and we'll be attending the following:

08/05/2007 - Cambridge, Corn Exchange

20/05/2007 - Preston, Guildhall

21/05/2007 - Wolverhampton, Civic Hall
27/05/2007 - Manchester, Apollo
29/05/2007 - London, Forum

30/05/2007 - London, Astoria

31/05/2007 - London, Shepherds Bush Empire

09/06/2007 - Reading, Hexagon

I'm getting rather excited now! I'm especially looking forward to the FD Preston - Wolverhampton road trip! It's gonna be great...

Ben's London Adventure - Pt. 1

Since moving to London, I have been determined to explore more of this fine city (and surrounding areas) as I feel I know very little about it. Here's the first installment of my adventure. Snoo and I took advantage of last Saturdays great weather and headed up to Wimbledon common (sadly, we didn't see any Wombles...) but I did see a lot of other interesting (and highly photographable (sp? ...Or is that even a word!?) things. Here's a few of them.

T Dot...

I got a lovely, shiny 72 strong set of Tria Pantone Markers at work the other day, so as it's been quiet this week, I've been testing them out. A few of the initial attempts were a bit ropey, but I think this sketch of the City Hall looks pretty decent.

I drew the buildings seperately, and then added the background wash afterwards in Photoshop. I'm really pleased as they seem to hang together really well, and gives style a bit more depth. I'm looking forward to much more experimentation soon!!

Tag - I'm it!...

I've been 'tagged' by the lovely Misk to write the illusive 'Six Weird Things' about myself. I've been thinking about these for a few days, and I can only think of about two so far... It's becoming increasingly apparent that I am extremely boring...

I'll keep you posted.
