Life Drawing - Pt. 7

I know what you're thinking - "Surely Ben, you can't have attended Life Drawing two weeks in a row could you?!..." Well, crazy as it sounds, it's true. And not only that, it seems to be two fairly successful weeks as well! Hurrah! We started off the session with about 12 quick (starting at 30 seconds, and progressing up to 15 minutes) poses before the break, and then two or three longer ones afterwards. Strangely, I found for once that I actually liked my quicker drawings, and the did seem to help me relax for the longer ones which was nice. I think the Bright Eyes/Broken Social Scene/Ben Gibbard (fairly) chilled soundtrack helped as well. I might stick with that in the future.

Anyway, see what you think...

Life Drawing - Pt.6

Here's some more life drawing from last night. Again, it's been a while since I've been (I don't think I've managed more than about 2 or 3 consecutive weeks yet - Not good!). However, depsite that, I had a good session, and produced some drawings that I was really pleased with. Everything seemed to be stacked in my favour as well: We had a female model (I still maintain that women are much nicer to draw than men. This isn't from a "blokey" perspective either - I know a lot of girls who feel the same), we also spent the whole night doing longer poses, which after I'd warmed up worked out well. I even remembered to take paints and things along, so I got to do some nice, theraputic, water colour work as well.

As a side note, Bright Eyes and The Album Leaf seem to make a good, relaxing musical backdrop...

Life Drawing - Pt.5

I went to life drawing again on Monday, for the first time in what feels like ages. The Manics tour seems to have completely wiped out May! It's been good though!

Anyway, I actually remembered to take my watercolour paints with me this time, and I'm pleased with what I produced...

Life Drawing - Pt.4

I went to Life Drawing class again yesterday. It was a little hit and miss in terms of my drawing, but there were a few that I was happy with.

Life Drawing - Pt.3

I went Life Drawing again last night. I missed the week before, and I think it really showed as I was a bit rusty. It didn't really help as we went straight in at the deep end with some really quick poses. Starting with 30 seconds, then a minute, then two minutes. After the break we did some longer poses (10, 15 and then 20 minutes.) I think the quick ones were a good warm up, but I was finding it hard to get anything down on paper that resembled a human being.

Anyway, here are a few of the longer poses:

I'm quite pleased with the above sketches, but I'd still liked to have worked on them a bit more. I made his head far too big in the last one as well. D'oh!

Life Drawing - Pt.2

Some sketchs from Life Drawing last night. I don't think it was as successful as the first week, but I still produced some work that I'm happy with...

Life Drawing - Pt. 1

Last Monday myself and Hazel went to a Life Drawing drop in class, at the Candid Arts Trust Centre, in North London. It was a really nice, informal affair with help on hand should you need it, and more importantly, free reign on the sketches you produced. Here's some of mine:
